How Does a Crypto Liquidation Calculator Work?

A liquidation calculator estimates the approximate market price at which a leveraged position can be closed by an exchange because available margin is no longer sufficient to maintain the position.

For a simplified isolated-margin estimate, the model uses entry price, leverage and maintenance margin. Long and short positions use different directions because their liquidation risk moves with price in opposite ways.

What is liquidation price?

It is the estimated price where the margin supporting a leveraged position can become insufficient under the exchange's rules.

Does this work for every exchange?

The calculator provides an estimate. Exchanges can use different maintenance-margin tiers, fees, funding rules and liquidation formulas, so always compare the result with your exchange's own calculation.

Does higher leverage increase liquidation risk?

Generally, higher leverage leaves less price movement between the entry price and the liquidation level, increasing sensitivity to adverse price moves.
